The goal of this line of research is to inform the development of comprehensive mindfulness-based programs for families and children across diverse contexts. Mindful parenting comprises multiple dimensions that are exercised in the context of the parent-child relationship and theorized to impact parenting and parent well-being, the emotional milieu of the relationship, and subsequently, youth well-being.

Areas that we explore through research and clinical work:

  • Mindful parenting and emotion socialization
  • Mindful coparenting and family health
  • How parent mindfulness impacts parenting programs
  • Parent mindfulness and parent depression

A family systems theoretical perspective conceptualizes the family as a complex, integrated whole; individuals within the system are viewed to be fundamentally dependent on one another.
